Hi there. I’m Kat. I live on Vancouver Island in Canada, a beautiful place full of life and nature. I’m a maximalist, a foodie, coffee-lover, and cat lady. I love pastel colours, cute stuff, and all things that sparkle. I speak Japanese and take any chance I can to visit Japan where I lived for a year in high school. I love learning new things and skills, and this ties in to why I love to make art.

There is nothing more satisfying to me than the process of feeling an idea spark, planning its execution, and bringing it into reality with my hands. I make art in all kinds of ways and mediums. My main practice is in drawing and painting, and there I explore as many avenues as I can, working in acrylic on canvas, oil on panel, ink, and watercolour on paper. Ideas often have a way of leading me towards the right medium for their expression, and an important part of my practice is continual exploration of new materials and skills.

Art has always been a way for me to communicate with people. As a shy individual, expressing my inner self through an art practice has been a wonderful and fulfilling way to open up to new relationships and connections.

As an emerging artist, I feel I have limitless possibilities and opportunities for continued growth and learning, as well as teaching and connection through my artwork.
